Uploaded by: ridethattrain
Video Description:
Vera Meyer plays the Glass Armonica (aka Harmonica) in Harvard Square, Boston, July, 2005. The instrument, an invention of Benjamin Franklin, was quickly banned after its inception. It was said to provoke insanity. The unique harmonics have also been said to import theraputic powers. It is also known as the "Glass Armonica".

Because the old glasses had a lot of lead it led to lead poisoning - insanity. The modern ones are coated where the fingers touch. Yeah, a Tritone is an interval not a scale!

More than 40 percent of the people living in Taiwan consider themselves Taiwanese. Another 45 percent consider themselves both Taiwanese and Chinese and 5 percent or less consider themselves Chinese. There is a slight trend favoring independence, but a consistent majority of Taiwanese support the current status quo, although there is a wide range of opinion on what exactly the status quo is.
When you say 'most' you mean 'some', I know several Irish people who would hate to be called British.

When these people were asked where they were from, they said Taiwan, not the Republic of China, indicating to me that they identify themselves as Taiwanese, not Chinese. You only have to look at the history of relations between China and Taiwan to see why some people make the distinction.

The Taiwanese don't dislike Chinese culture. They just dislike the PRC, for obvious reasons. The National Palace Museum in Taipei, for example, is one of the (if not the) greatest collections of Chinese Art/History in the world.
I doubt very much Taiwanese people would be anything other than pleased by someone offering to play a Chinese song.
