Fire and Ice [IB Cut]
Uploaded by: GermanSeabass
Video Description:
This is the release of the IB (International Baccalaureate) cut of our film. The restrictions for the Higher Level (HL) Film aspect of IB was a film between 6:00 and 7:00 minutes - no exceptions. So, we had to cut down our masterpiece to these constraints; a pity, as we had a lot of beautiful shots that had to be sacrificed for reaching the 7-minute cutoff.
Besides producing, editing, videographing/filming and working partially on the sound design, I composed the complete score - which I'll upload ... some time soon. No, I don't have sheet music.
Some time in the next few weeks, we will have finished the final version of our film, and I will upload it here. Note: YouTube quality is 320x240 pixels with mono sound. We filmed in widescreen at DVD quality and muxed the audio to 5.1 surround-sound. A lot of the intended cinematic experience is lost due to this.
If you would like to buy a copy: yes! They are on sale for $10. Send me a note here on youtube or an email: germanseabass@gmail.com
We spent nearly $1000 making this film, and we have a bit of a deficit in our wallets to fill. If you want to see more great films, please donate or buy our film! Thanks~

Are you eperienced with film?
Man this is something i want to get into
I'm a major amateur, but I admire often.
I really enjoyed it, good work!
I love this!!!
and I give 5/5 to the camera man =D
Excellent job, and great story, perfect concept for a short film.
I'd like to hear the full version of the theme that pops up at 2:54, possibly in a separate "Seabass's hands playing the piano" video. I really love that motif, and it's a pity you couldn't use it as much as you did in the extended version.

Check my website for the complete list of downloadable songs (in convenient mp3 format). And heh... performing this? I've already forgotten all the pieces. Never got around to writing down sheet music for any of them...
How's Schloemp treating y'all? Any fun/noteworthy film experiments this year? Your video gallery is still stuck on Reversal.. any updates? :D
I made a 2 minute "video essay" for my application to Chapman University film school, called I Can See the Music. I put it on youtube, but make sure to see the High Quality version.
How's life on your side of the world?

I'm doing alright, a bit stressed, but stayin' alive. (♫)
I just used my own MiniDV camera, it's a model that Sony released this January, the HDR-HC5. It has HD capability, but I didn't use HD for the video.
I did heavy HEAVY filter work in After Effects to get the washed out, blue look, and the radial blur.

Yep, we were pretty lucky with our school; we had an amazing program and an equally amazing teacher. Film is what I want to do professionally, so it was a good start :D
Where do you plan on studyin' film??
so far my best choice is USC (despite the ridiculous tuition cost). I'm still a jr. in high school so i've got some time
