Who is a Bengali? If we say those whose first language is, then Sd is a Bengali. I had seen a TV interview of RDB claiming himself to be a Bengali.
However the Barmans come from Tripura. And the north east region has given India some of its best musicians ever. Salil Choudhuri,Barmans, Bhupe Hazarika and others.
