Digital is 1's and 0's. Analog usually requires physical contact. CD's are recorded in 44.1 thousand "pixels" per second at 16 bits per pixel. That is considered sd audio, when lossless. 24 bit in 48 k sample rate is hd. (I prefer 96) Think of it like film. You have the actual film itself that you would see blown up 3 stories high and still be infinitely clear. Then you got the cd/dvd which is good up to about 40 inches. Then you got hd which is finally getting to what digital should sound like.

Plenty of bands are still making vinyl. Metallica, Coldplay, Madonna, Brian Wilson, Nine Inch Nails, just to name a few. You probably won't find your current emo rock and Jonas Brothers on vinyl, but more and more small or independent label artists, (like HR) are making vinyl like crazy. There are also plenty of Classic Rock bands, and even more current bands like AC/DC who are re-releasing their entire catalogs on high grade vinyl. Look around on ebay, you might be pleasantly surprised! :)
